COVID-19 forces the ceramic museum to temporarily close on working days

Opening hours

The Goedewaagen Ceramics Museum in Nieuw-Buinen will be closed on working days from Monday 5 October to Friday 23 October due to the increasing contamination level by COVID-19. The museum remains open on Saturday and Sunday afternoons from 1 pm to 5 pm. The management of the Goedewaagen group asked the museum foundation to take this drastic step to protect the health of the factory employees. The factory has a well-filled order portfolio with large orders for monumental tiling for, among others, House Modernes in Utrecht and for decorative pottery from Bloomon, among others. Corona contamination and possibly the declaration of a quarantine measure for factory employees could lead to irresponsible damage to the business. Of course, the health of factory employees should not be endangered.

Company tours of the factory workshops for larger groups have been canceled since June 1. But because a sharply increased number of museum visitors from all over the Netherlands and Germany are now also crossing the path of factory personnel in the museum’s front building rented by the museum foundation and conducting work meetings, sharing the museum spaces is currently too large. risk. In the next three weeks, factory management and museum management will reflect on better protection of the workers, visitors and museum team. On the other hand, the museum may remain open on weekends.

Museum Shop

The shop that has been handed over to the museum foundation by the Royal Goedewaagen pottery factory is also only accessible on these 5 days during the mentioned opening hours.

New tandem tour on request

Due to the imposed 1.5 meter distance directive, visits by larger groups including a guided tour of the factory workshops are unfortunately not yet possible until 1 September. What is new is that the museum foundation is introducing a so-called tandem tour for the 5 opening afternoons, which means that a guided tour of the museum and factory workshops will be possible on request for a household of two or three people. Due to the limited number of participants, the tandem tour also allows more ateliers to be visited than is possible with larger groups. The tour costs a fixed price of € 40. This tour must be booked at least two days in advance by sending an e-mail to mail@keramischmuseumgoedewaagen.nl.
